Hello 4B Families,
Thank you for a GREAT Catholic Schools Week. We had a lot of fun last week dancing, answering trivia questions, wearing crazy socks and celebrating our wonderful Catholic school! We also got to enjoy visits with veterans, Catholic school alumni and Senior Ambassadors from CHS. I enjoyed getting to visit with you all at Open House. We also had a really good Science Fair and I was very pleased with the 4th Grade participation in the event. Congratulations to those chosen to display their projects at MSU.
3rd quarter is half way through. Progress Reports should be emailed to you this week. We have many exciting events coming up so watch your emails and read those newsletters from Mrs. Coleman. The next thing to come up will be St. Valentine's Day. The students may make a box for their valentines. Bring them to school on the 14th. They will judged by the 3rd graders. The kids can make their box whatever they want! The only limit is their imagination!

Dear Students and Parents of Class 4B,
I hope you had a great summer vacation. My name is April Mika, and I will be teaching your fourth grade class this year at Immaculate Conception School. I am very excited for this school year to begin and to get to meet you all. Before we get started, I wanted to tell you a little about myself.
I was born at Ft. Rucker, Alabama where my father was stationed in the US Army. We moved around with the military for many years before settling in Bakersfield, California. I I attended school there and graduated from North High School then began my college experience at Cal State Bakersfield as a science major. I eventually transferred to Arkansas State University in Jonesboro where I graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Education. I returned to Bakersfield and taught for seven years at Edison Middle School. I loved teaching 4th grade! When I met my husband, Paul, I returned to Army life but this time as a spouse. We moved about every three years so I have had the privilege to live all over the world. Our last duty station put us in Germany (which made that my second time since I had lived there as a child too.) I gave up full time teaching to stay home with my children, I remained active by substituting, teaching night classes for adults and PSR classes on Sunday mornings. I am very happy to be returning to the classroom full time and extra excited that it is 4th grade - which is the best year ever!
My family and I live in Ozark and attend St. Joseph the Worker in Ozark. We were blessed to be able to find a home two doors down from my parents and get to see them daily. We have two children: Amanda and Grace, a cat named Max and a dog named Heidi. In my spare time I like to read, cook and do crafts. I spend a lot of time at Church where I volunteer and study.
I am looking forward to meeting each of you at the “Meet the Teacher/Ice Cream Social” that will be held on Tuesday, August 16, from 2-4pm at IC. You can bring your school supplies to the Ice Cream Social.
See you soon,
Mrs. April Mika
